Environmental, Social and Governance (ESG) are a set of values that large corporations and governments like to espouse (2020 Update – now everyone is getting onboard). These values help provide direction for progress, though they can be subjective and construed as morally superior by unscrupulous players. The ESG investment space is now expanding leaving the cigar smoking sexist oil drinking oligarchs behind. The benchmark for measuring ESG funds continues it’s development.
Example – not for profit organisation delivering food security to a vulnerable community maybe drawing on their ESG values to achieve an sustainable outcome.
CSR – Corporate Social Responsibility proceeded ESG, but it’s use died in progress.
